With the advent of the computer - and the knowledge of the crisis that is facing the world - we are in dire need of practitioners that are not only aware of our global situation but are willing and able to do something on a very personal, one to one level. We are not just about BEING - although that is a very important first step - but we need to take the responsibility that is right next to us, closest to us - and start DOING. The transition from BEING to DOING does not end with recycling - it's how we vote with our dollars, how and what we say to others, the action example we set and the degree to which we care for our planet. To some, who live their day by the clock, where everyday is relatively the same as the next, changes in the environment and damage to our planet may seem far away and even laughable. To the few of us - who have had the extreme priviledge of walking on glaciers, cutting thru several jungles, crossing and snorkling the oceans, climbing volcanoes, having starving children die in our arms - this is no laughing matter. We are seeing the problem up close and personal.
Most of what we are resisting is greed and power.
For some people it's terribly important that they have what not only what they deserve but much, much more. It's called entitlement - a feeling that underscores their insecurity about the future - a strong sense of impending doom. And what scares me the most is that I am seeing this trait not just at the top of our political pyramid - but often in our own children. Somehow many in this this up and coming generation feel that they've been cheated and of those, a few feel that if they do not get or feel what they want - they will either take it by force or resort to homocide and/or suicide. I know the vast majority of parents are not capable of instilling these strong emotions so the feeling of entitlement must come from a "field" - a morphing sense that lies beneath the surface but pervades thru society and, occassionally rears its ugly head in those few who have little or no defensive shields. Distortions and dysperceptions are aided & abbetted by both legal & illegal drugs - Mother Nature is oblivious to this political distinction. As more & more young(er) people become discouraged with their unfillfilled and unrealistic expectations, their gloom and doom expands into a chronic, low-grade panic from which often, there seems no way out. We, as a species, have more than survived, we have become pariahs. We need to do something before people start imploding & rulers start exploding. It's time to face the difficult questions - without losing our humanity.
School teachers and administrators are handcuffed and can be of no help. I've offered to teach at schools for free but "politics" prevents them from offering my points of view: who knows - there might be students whose parents are butchers and the vegetarian point of view is obnoxious to them. In addition, both parents might be working hard to keep the children fed and housed and have little time or energy to monitor their children. The clergy in general have lost integrity. Doctors are so busy with crisis intervention - they have no time for prevention and being a "real" doctor (teacher). Everyone is making a futile attempt at "making a living" when in reality they are barely surviving - and around the world thousands, millions, die every day having lost the battle. Something needs to be done and BEING is just not enough. Not anymore. That's where the SECOND HALF of HHAPA wants to make a difference. What is HHAPA? Holistic Health Association of the Princeton Area.
So what do we do? The problem lies again with the fact that we think we do not have enough. In this case - information. We think we don't have enough information so we keep searching and paying for more searches and we keep looking, inventing, discovering and learning - thinking that if we get just one more fact, one more research paper, just one more drug, just one more of ANYTHING - ONLY THEN can we change the world.
The fact is that we have all the information we need right now. We can change the world BY USING the information we have in our computers, in our schools, in our laboratories, in the churches, in the halls of our political buildings and in those who are wise with age. If we but paid attention to the work that has already been discovered, the machines that have already been invented and the ideas that have already been penned - we CAN change the world for the better. And let it begin with me.
This is our objective. Being is not enough. Doing is what counts. Pass it on. Thank you for paying attenion.

RAW FOOD MEETINGS:
For those of you who have done the vegetarian or vegan lifestyle and want to further both your education and awareness - I cordially invite you and a friend to come to our RAW FOOD meetings on the FIRST Wednesday of every month to have an incredible learning organic/vegan/raw food experience, mixed with lots of fun & laughter - with people of our own persuasion.
Please contact Lynn (609-430-1535) or the receptionist (609-924-7337) for more detailed information regarding what you should bring to the super-kitchen and into the medieval dining room.
